Reminders About Success

4 Tough Reminders about Success

Life can have some harsh lessons for us sometimes. For example, who among us expects to fail? However, failure, mistakes and things that don’t work out are part and parcel of human existence. From the dawn of time success has only come after many, many failures. So why are we so intolerant of failure?
You might be surprised to hear that there is solid scientific evidence that failure is a key ingredient of success. Or rather, your response to failure is key to whether you succeed or not.
It’s easy to get flummoxed when things don’t work out as you had expected. You might feel like giving up, but before you do, consider these reminders about success.

You just need to do it
Like jumping into the pool, the first step is the hardest. Yes, you need to plan and research, but the most important thing is to begin. If you genuinely want to succeed, whether you’re writing an essay or starting a business, at some point you need to stop circling and just do it. And once you’ve made that first step, everything else follows.

Busyness is not next to Godliness.
Anyone can look busy. But looking or even being busy is not necessarily productive. You need to be strategic in where you choose to put your effort. How many phone calls or emails do you generate every day? How many of them are effective, or even necessary?
Success depends on focused, intentional action. Get smart and don’t be busy, be active.

Failure is part of the deal
To fail is human, and the sooner you accept that, the better. If you never made a mistake, you would never learn. So, admit from the start that you’re not perfect and you will make mistakes. These errors give you vital information about what will work and what won’t. Use that data to build a better project or take a better approach.

Not everyone is cheering you on.
Finding out that there are people, including people you love and admire, who don’t think you can achieve your goal can be hurtful. Some people may even try to undermine your efforts or sap your confidence.
You can choose how you deal with naysayers., You can cut them loose, or use them as inspiration, determined to prove them wrong.
And you can choose to build your cheer squad. Surround yourself with supportive, positive people who will buoy you up and celebrate your success.

Don’t be afraid of failure. Protect yourself from its negative effects and choose to use its lessons in building your path to success.
